Has the Rose wilted?

With two wins and two seconds Michael Abay broke the dominance of the Rose brothers in this class with a round win just four points ahead of Brent Rose.

Thirteen cars qualified in the allotted fifteen minute session with the afore mentioned Abay qualifying better than half a second ahead of
Brent Rose with the number one carrying Kane Rose just over a tenth in arrears. That was basically the trend for the weekend with a reversal of form in the Rose camp. Team owner, Ion Rose, explained that the expected tyre supply was not available at the circuit and that this could have influenced the result. My feeling is that we will have to wait for Sandown to see if this trend will continue.

Not for in arrears were John Morriss and then Stephen Canny. Damian Harris completed the third row with Robert Lange and Lucky Patsiotis making the fourth and Joseph Stoffels and Philip Meiklejohn rounding out the ten.

Race one saw Brent Rose and the Koala Furniture entry of Abay argue the lead with Rose having led only three of them but was in command on the one that counted. Kane Rose settled into the third spot and held it for the distance. A minor loose at seven on lap two cost Morriss his fourth place to Canny and they finished in that order. Next home were Patsiotis and Lange ahead of Stoffels and Harris.

Race two was largely a repeat of the first with Abay leading the first five before Brent again took charge to take his second win. Brother Kane had a consistent run in third for the distance. Morriss was unable to regain the spot he lost to Canny in the previous event. Patsiotis dropped down the order in this one to finish twelfth a long way behind after suffering a sixty-second penalty.

The first of the night races at this meeting was held for this class. On this occasion it was Abay who took the initiative and led for the duration. Brent Rose finished second ahead of brother Kane taking his third, third, for the meeting. Morriss regained his lost position to finish fourth ahead of Canny. Patsiotis recovered to finish seventh behind Lange.

The final race on Sunday and Brent Rose held the lead for most of the distance before succumbing the pressure and Abay who crossed the line to take his second win ho second ahead of Brent with Kane Taking yet another third. The next finisher was, again, Canny ahead of Morriss.

Abay took the round win ahead of Brent and then Kane Rose with Canny and Morris in arrears.

The battle has just begun.
